Teenagers are terrible

So I'm sitting here in my high school's library, beginning this blogging project for my Composition class about 2 months late. Let's just say procrastination should have been my middle name. I'm three years into high school and I still struggle with it. The learning part of school truly isn't so bad. There are times I want to shove what seems like a pointless assignment up my teacher's ass, and I rarely do my homework on time, but honestly, an education is necessary.
My problem with high school doesn't lie within the classes but with the students. Kids in high school are mean. They're judgemental, have little to no respect for other people, and tend to be more than a little self-obsessed. Having to spend four years with these people is enough to make anyone lose their mind.
I mean, it's not like I'm expecting everyone to be a saint, but come one people, have a little human compassion. I've seen kids torn down by their peers on a daily basis for the slightest difference in how they look or what they do. Granted, on these times I should have tried to stand up for someone too afraid to do it themselves, but shit man, high school kids scare me too.
At this age I feel like it's really easy for kids to lose themselves in the social dynamics of high school. They get way to caught up in appearance, and who's had sex, and who's cool enough to talk to, and whatever the hell else teenagers care about. But if everyone would just take a step back from all that craziness and realize that we are all human beings with families, and responsibilities, and feelings, then maybe high school wouldn't be such a goddamn sharktank.
